Go Forward: Isaiah 43:18-20

Go Forward!

There are no beds in museums! So why spend your mental and emotional nights dwelling in spaces God has called you from? This devotional is for those struggling with past mistakes or success.

Isaiah 43:18-20 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Letting go of the past is pivotal for embracing the newness that God brings into our lives. Museums preserve history, showcasing relics of the past, but they aren’t meant for residing in. Similarly, dwelling on past mistakes or clinging to former successes immobilizes us, hindering our spiritual growth and forward progression. God’s promise of renewal extends beyond a mere change in circumstances; it’s about a profound inner transformation. Embracing this transformation means releasing the weight of the past, stepping into the freedom and potential of a new beginning offered through Christ.

The Scriptures in Isaiah and Corinthians remind us of the incredible promise of being reborn in Christ. This rebirth signifies not just a cosmetic change but a fundamental, spiritual renewal. It’s an invitation to shed the burdens of guilt, regret, or pride from the past. Instead, we’re called to embrace the vitality and transformative power of our faith in Christ. Through this renewal, we’re empowered to live out our divine purpose and experience life in all its fullness.

God’s grace is the divine force that propels us toward this newness of life. It’s a reminder that mistakes don’t define us, and successes don’t confine us. His grace liberates us from the constraints of the past, enabling us to step into the abundant life He has destined for us. As we walk in the assurance of our newness in Christ, let’s embrace each moment as an opportunity to live out this transformed, purpose-filled life.
