As I reflect on the recent tragedy that unfolded on the Francis Key Bridge in Baltimore, my heart is heavy with grief for those affected by this devastating event. The pain of loss, whether experienced directly or vicariously, can weigh heavily on our hearts and minds. It can be overwhelming, leaving us feeling helpless and unsure of how to cope.
In times like these, it is important to remember that we are not alone in our grief. God is with us, offering comfort and solace in our time of need. In Psalm 34:18, we are reminded that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” His presence is a source of strength and peace, even in the midst of our deepest sorrows.
It is also important to allow ourselves to grieve and to feel the pain of loss. In John 11:35, we see that even Jesus wept at the death of his friend Lazarus. Grief is a natural response to loss, and it is okay to mourn and express our emotions.
But amidst our grief, we must also hold on to hope. In Romans 8:18, we are reminded that “The pain that you’ve been feeling can’t compare to the joy that’s coming.” While we may not understand why tragedy strikes, we can trust in God’s plan and his promise of a future filled with joy and peace.
Let us pray for those affected by the Francis Key Bridge tragedy, that they may find comfort and strength in God’s love. And let us also pray for ourselves, that we may be a source of light and hope to those around us who are grieving.
